There’s something about the alchemy of a children’s tale, the smell of wool, the sheen of colored silk, and the voices of singing children that compels Regina Mason forward. Inspired by the puppetry in Steiner school kindergartens, since 2005 Regina has merged her skills as a wool artist, musician, storyteller, and veteran educator into home-centered marionette theatre work with children and elders. With a passion for the enchantment that emerges when a group works together in a mix of the arts, homespun puppet theatre has become Regina’s most loved artistic expression.
Regina holds a Masters in Education along with Waldorf and public school certifications. Her guiding hand has educated public, private, and homeschooled students, teachers-in-training, and fellow parents. Regina’s classrooms and workshops have successfully embraced children of mixed ages as well as those with distinctive learning styles. These have included children who are “Twice Exceptional” (gifted and learning disabled) and those on the autism spectrum. She has been a regular keynote speaker and workshop presenter at educational conferences, with a focus on children and the arts, classroom management, and homeschooling.
Regina brings puppetry along with traditional and contemporary fiber arts to multi-generational audiences, serving houses or worship, retirement communities, colleges, schools, homeschool collectives, fiber festivals, and history-centered events. With a special love of the rhythm of the seasons and fiddle and folk music, Regina, her husband and their five children have opened their doors at BelleWeather Farm in upstate NY for festivals and the arts for many years. Little Puppet Studio resides in the Berkshires, and widely travels both regions.
